Pom Pom Camp

Pom Pom Camp in the Okavango Delta Region of Botswana, is the real deal.

Pom Pom’s classic safari tents and stunning lagoon setting make this the quintessential Okavango Delta camp.

Often considered the best all-round offering in Botswana, given its consistent game sightings, this is a safari camp not to be missed.

We love a good mystery.

Some say Pom Pom comes from the Setswana word Phokoje, meaning ‘jackal’, which many claim echoes the playful energy of camp.

Some say it refers to the shape of the island, while others believe it’s inspired by a local plant or an old hunting reference.

Another guide might tell you Pom Pom means ‘softly, softly’ referring to the peaty wetland soils that are so easy to get stuck in!

However, everyone agrees on this fact: Pom Pom is whispered about in travel circles for its unpretentious charm, epic wildlife sightings, and that classic Delta feel.

In its early days, Pom Pom was a simple camp designed for adventurous travellers who wanted to experience the Okavango Delta the old-fashioned way: in canvas tents with bucket showers and game drives that felt like true explorations.

Unlike newer glossier lodges, Pom Pom has stayed true to its roots.

Remaining small and intimate, this camp thrives on an authentic bush feel with a touch of nostalgia.

Pom Pom is a place for the purists, the romantics, and the adventurers — those who want the Okavango raw, real, and ridiculously beautiful.

Leopards stalk through dappled light, African wild dogs race through floodplains, and elephants splash their way through golden sunsets.

Activities shift with the seasons, but there’s always off-road driving, night safaris, and exclusive encounters with wildlife throughout the year.

Then, during the floods between May and September, mokoro and boating excursions depart from camp for the quintessential Delta experience.
