After experiencing the unique buzz of the safari capital of Southern Africa, you’ll head off on a road trip to Feline Fields Lodge in the stunning Kalahari for a three-night stay, before heading back again by road to Maun.

Designed to give guests a glimpse of the real Botswana, driving through remote communities and wilderness areas, the Road Trip package is also aimed at providing a more budget-friendly alternative to a fly-in safari.

Welcome to Maun

The adventure begins when you arrive at Maun’s international airport.

You’ll be greeted by our team and escorted in an antique land cruiser we fondly call “Moonshine” to our beautiful guest lounge a short distance from the airport, where you can freshen up before taking your 20-minute Mac Air flight to Khwai and Feline Fields Vintage Camp.

It’s here that the road trip begins!

You’ll be met by your safari guide and driven to camp in an open safari vehicle, game viewing along the way.

You will spend three nights in a luxurious en-suite safari tent on the Mbudi Channel – part of the Khwai River system.

Go on early morning and afternoon game drives, walk in the wilderness with your guide, go fishing or glide through the Delta on a mokoro trip and perhaps even swim in a sheltered lagoon!

Your Road Trip to Maun

When it’s time to leave Feline Fields Vintage Camp you’ll meet your driver-guide for a road trip par excellence in a luxury air-conditioned 4×4, driving through the Khwai Community Reserve and the villages that lay on its periphery on a wonderful, winding journey back to Maun.

You’ll see wildlife along the way as well as witnessing the unique tapestry of rural life in Botswana.

On arrival in Maun, you will check in at Thamalakane River Lodge for your overnight stay. Located on the banks of the seasonal Thamalakane River, the views are as fabulous as the hospitality.

Maun to Feline Fields Lodge and Back

In the morning, after breakfast at Thamalakane River Lodge, you will check out and be collected by our driver-guide for your visit to Elephant Havens – a renowned conservation organisation working with orphaned African elephants.

After a light lunch it’s time to head out on the highway for another road trip – this time to Feline Fields Lodge in the heart of the Kalahari for a wonderful three-night stay.

Once more you’ll be getting a glimpse of everyday life in Botswana, driving through small towns and villages on your route to the lodge.

The first 90 minutes are on an excellent tar road before you turn off onto a sand road that winds its way into the Kalahari for another 90 minutes or so.

You’ll often see spectacular wildlife along this route, from elephant to leopard!

So, keep your eyes peeled!

After your three-night stay it’s time to say goodbye with a wonderful celebratory ceremony before heading back to Maun to connect with your flight home.

This holiday package can easily be combined with an adventure to Victoria Falls.
